Sugar in Cereals

In science we did an experiment on sugar. First, we started out by putting two teaspoons of yeast in baggie. Then we added 2 tablespoons of cereal. We then added 50 milliliters of water to our baggie. We soaked the cereal bags in warm water about 50 degrees. After 10 minutes, we took it out of the bath and measured the volume of our baggie. We learned that sugar activates yeast and that the puffier the bag gets, the more sugar in the cereal. My group and I chose to test Cocoa Krispies and Fruit loops. We found some surprising results. At first I thought that Fruit Loops would have more sugar, but actually, the Cocoa Krispies did. I found this experiment very interesting!
